Fishing Tours in Sitka
Salmon Fishing Tour
Located
on the west coast of Baranof Island, Sitka sits
directly on the open ocean. Due to this unique
ocean access, Sitka is a fantastic place to go
fishing, with very consistent fishing throughout
the season (May - Sept.). King Salmon are
abundant May through mid-July. Silver, Chum and
Pink Salmon are abundant early July through
Sept. There are 2 ways to fish for Salmon,
“Trolling”, which uses downriggers or “Mooching”
which does not. The captain will decide how to
fish based on what method he is personally most
successful using or how the fish have been
behaving lately. All necessary
equipment, tackle, raingear, light snacks and
drinks are provided.

Halibut Fishing Tour
Halibut
are abundant all season long! Travel
approx. 60 minutes out to the halibut grounds,
enjoy approx. 4 hours of fishing time and travel
back to the dock in about 60 minutes. We will target Halibut, Ling Cod,
and Red Snapper. We also commonly catch salmon;
if you wish to retain a King
Salmon should you catch one, then you must purchase
the King Salmon Tag along with the fishing
license at the start of the trip. Bottom
Fishing is done by “Jigging” bait off the ocean
floor, typically in 200 - 400 Ft. of water.
Each fisherman has a rod that they can hold or
place in a rod holder until a fish takes the
bait. Bottom Fishing is done on the open ocean
and is subject to ocean swells and wind chop.
Seasickness precautions should be taken in
advance. Rough does not always mean unfishable,
but if the weather does not permit, we will
cancel the tour and try to place interested
parties on the 4-Hour Salmon Trip if capacity
permits.
